Help & Support

New Zealand’s Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements mean financial service providers must identify and verify their customers. This process is also known as Know Your Customer (KYC).

Rebit uses trusted verification providers to check your identity document, match your identity information and biometric check, and confirm your residential address when required. These checks help protect your account and reduce fraud and financial crime.

Learn more about how your information is handled in Who can access my data and transfer history?

No. Confirming your email address or phone number alone is not enough to activate a Rebit account for transfers.

You may also need to provide:

  • Your personal details
  • An eligible identity document
  • A biometric or selfie check
  • Proof of your residential address when requested

Many customers complete digital verification within minutes. Some documents or circumstances require a manual review and may take longer.

Rebit limits access to personal and transfer information to people and organisations that need it to provide services, protect customers, or meet legal obligations.

  • Verification providers process the information needed to complete identity checks.
  • Authorised Rebit compliance staff can access information required for verification and monitoring.
  • Payment partners and operators receive the transfer and recipient details needed to process an order.
  • Banks, regulators, or law-enforcement agencies may receive information when required for compliance or by law.

See Rebit’s Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions for more information.

Rebit may ask you to confirm that a bank account belongs to you before it can be used for a transfer. This protects your account and helps us meet banking and compliance requirements.

What document can I provide?

Upload a bank-issued document that clearly shows:

  • The account holder’s full name
  • The bank name
  • The bank account number

A bank statement or an official proof-of-account or account-confirmation document downloaded from your bank is usually suitable. Your account number is not the same as your card number, so do not upload a photo of your bank card.

How do I upload it?

Open Account > My Bank Accounts, select the relevant bank account, and follow the prompt to upload proof of ownership.

Upload documents only through your Rebit account. The relevant team will review the file and may request further information.

Upload only the document requested on your Verification screen or by the Rebit KYC team. Do not guess which document is required.

Where do I upload it?

Open Account > Verification. Check the Action Required section, open Additional Documents, and attach the requested file.

Before uploading

  • Make sure the document belongs to the correct Rebit account holder.
  • Include the complete document and all relevant pages.
  • Check that names, dates, account numbers, and other required details are readable.
  • Do not send identity, banking, or compliance documents through Telegram.

What happens next?

The relevant team will review your document. Uploading a document does not guarantee approval, and further information may be requested. Contact [email protected] if the request is unclear or you need to provide a written explanation.

Check whether a manual verification option is available for your country or identity document.

  • Automatic verification supports eligible New Zealand or Australian identity documents.
  • Manual verification may be required for other documents, including an Iranian passport.
  • Upload the requested identity document and proof of address.

Review times depend on the documents provided and whether further checks are required. Contact support if no suitable verification option is shown.

When proof of address is requested, upload a recent document showing your full name and current residential address. Examples include:

  • A bank statement
  • A utility or internet bill
  • A tenancy agreement
  • Another official document requested by the verification team

Upload it through Account > Verification and follow the exact request shown on your account.

A gift letter can support verification when money was given to you and is not a loan.

Information to include

  • The donor’s and recipient’s details and their relationship
  • The gift amount, currency, and date
  • The source and purpose of the funds
  • A statement that no repayment or interest is required
  • The donor’s name, signature, and date

Supporting bank statements or an official translation may also be requested.

Examples

A verification document may be rejected when it is incomplete, unclear, expired, or does not match the details on your Rebit account.

Before uploading it again, check that:

  • The entire document is visible, including all edges.
  • The image is clear, well lit, and free from glare.
  • The document is current and is one of the requested types.
  • Names, dates, and other details match your Rebit account.
  • Both sides or all requested pages are included.
  • An official or certified translation is included when requested.

Upload the document through Account > Verification. Contact [email protected] if it is rejected again.

Use these steps when your account shows Action Required in Verification.

Complete the listed action

  • Open Account > Verification.
  • Read the specific action or document request shown on your account.
  • If files are requested, open Additional Documents and select Attach file or Take photo.
  • Add every requested file, then select Send file(s).

The required action depends on your account status and recent orders. Do not upload guessed or unrelated documents. Contact support if the instruction is unclear.

Contact Rebit support and ask for your account to be permanently closed.

Send the request from your registered email address to [email protected]. For security, Rebit may need to confirm your identity and check whether any transfers or compliance matters are still open before closing the account.

Account closure does not remove information that Rebit must retain to meet legal or regulatory obligations.
